Intro to Graphic Design
Course Description
This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of visual communication problem-solving through digital applications and Adobe creative software. Students will engage in critical thinking about digital aesthetics through research, conceptual development, and other processes specific to design and typography. Together, these course elements will expose students to the foundational concepts of graphic design for practical and professional utilization.
Projects will include thematic poster designs, experimental abstract digital and analog drawing/ painting, vinyl album + cassette cover design, book cover design, logo design/re-branding for social and/or humanitarian causes. Emphasis will be placed on creative process and experimentation in finding unique creative solutions to a range of design problems. Students will explore the interplay of form and meaning throughout the projects and daily challenges as well as developing their ability to think, write, and speak about digital media critically and fluently.
